Which porch screen mesh size: 14/18 or 20/20 ?

This week I'm having a screened porch built. The builder is offering an upgraded Phifer brand 20/20 screen mesh, as opposed to the regular Phifer 4/18 mesh at no extra cost.

For more information, please visit 20x20 screen.

Now prior to choosing this builder, I was told by a couple other porch/sales reps that they only recommended the 14/18 screen mesh size, because you could feel the breeze better... and 20/20 mesh would make the air feel stagnant. My builder says they were probably just telling me that because they didn't offer the 20/20 as a standard mesh.

Has anyone tried both, or tried one and wished they'd chosen the other? If the 20/20 does cut down the breeze some, is it that much to make a difference? In any case, I've gotten conflicting opinions on the subject and I'm not sure what to do. I should mention that I live in central florida where there is no problem with no-see-ums. Would there be any other advantages of going with the 20/20... other than to keep out the no-see-um?

Thanks in advance for any feedback on the subject.

No-See-Um Screen (20x20) Rolls

Do you have window screens that insects are able to penetrate? If you're dealing with small no-see-ums and other tiny insects, it's time to choose screen wire that effectively keeps them out. The mesh of other screens may have openings that are large enough for these small pests to make their way through. If you live in a coastal or marshy region, you can likely relate to this issue. With our No-See-Um screen rolls, you'll finally be able to have a screen option that protects you and your family from even the smallest of insects.

Our No-See-Um screen rolls are fantastic options for both homeowners DIYing their screens and professional screening businesses. The mesh screen is a finer mesh fiberglass that is designed to protect against no-see-ums, mosquitos, spiders, gnats, sand flies, and other tiny insects common in low marshy and coastal areas. Sized at 20x20 with a diameter of .013, this screen is much more effective than any other option at insect prevention. Because it's made of fiberglass, it won't rip or become disfigured when pushed in, so it's ideal for high-traffic areas like porches, patios, pool areas, and sliding doors. The Charcoal color looks natural with any home's exterior color scheme and will even offer some daytime privacy. These screen rolls are available in the following sizes: 36" x 25', 36" x 100', 48" x 25', 48" x 100', 60" x 100', 72" x 100', 84" x 100', and 96" x 100'. For professionals, stocking up on No-See-Um screen rolls is a good idea during the summer, as customers call about insect prevention. After the No-See-Um screen is installed, the difference it makes will be apparent instantly. You'll finally be able to relax outdoors in your enclosed area undisturbed by the buzzing and biting of insects.
