Honeywell PROBTM - Rare Earth Button Type Magnet

The Honeywell PROBTM is a rare earth button type magnet. Unlike standard magnets used with Honeywell door and window contacts, the PROBTM magnets are rare earth and therefore stronger. A stronger rare earth magnet allows you to use a larger magnet spacing gap when installing your door and window contacts.

If your door or window has a large gap between the frame and the door or window, you may not be able to get the door or window contact to stay in a normally closed state. If the internal reed switch of the contact is not properly energized by the magnet, the contact will remain in an open state and your zone will be in fault. By replacing the magnet with a PROBTM rare earth magnet, you may be able to energize the internal reed switch and clear the fault from the zone in question.

The Honeywell PROBTM rare earth button type magnets are ideal for the Honeywell 944TRE and Honeywell PRO51BTM recessed door and window contacts because both of those recessed contacts include a PROBTM magnet when purchased. Therefore, if you lose a magnet or need to replace an existing magnet, you are replacing the magnet with an exact match. However, you can use the PROBTM magnets with nearly any recessed door and window contact.

You will need to drill a small hole in your door or window to recess mount your PROBTM magnets. However, each PROBTM has a concave hole in the middle of the magnet so that when you attach the magnet to your door with a screw, the screw head will be flush with the top of the magnet and therefore, will be flush with the edge of your door.
