Coal Power Low-Carbon Transformation Construction Action Plan (2024-2027)

On July 15, the National Development and Reform Commission and the National Energy Administration issued a notice regarding the "Coal Power Low-Carbon Transformation Construction Action Plan (2024-2027)". The notice emphasizes that by 2025, the initial phase of coal power low-carbon transformation and construction projects will commence. Additionally, a variety of coal power low-carbon power generation technologies will be implemented. These projects are expected to achieve a carbon emission reduction of approximately 20% compared to the average carbon emission level of similar coal power units in 2023. This reduction is significantly lower than the carbon emission level of currently active advanced coal power units. Furthermore, these initiatives aim to establish valuable insights for promoting clean and low-carbon transformation within the coal power sector.
